Privacy Policy
How we collect, use and protect your personal information.
Last updated: 2026. This policy explains how 1st Aid Recovery handles personal data, in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who we are
1st Aid Recovery ("we", "us", "our") operates this website and provides vehicle recovery and roadside assistance services. For the purposes of data protection law, we are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at info@1staid-recovery.co.uk or 07961 100260.
2. The information we collect
We collect information you give us directly when you contact us, request a quote or book a service. This typically includes your name, telephone number, email address, vehicle details, pickup and destination locations, and any details you choose to include in your message.
We also collect limited technical information automatically when you use the website, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visited and the time of your visit. This is used to keep the site secure and to understand how it is used.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
We use your information to respond to enquiries and provide quotes, to carry out the recovery or transport service you have asked for, to keep records required for insurance and accounting, to deal with complaints and disputes, and to improve our service.
Our lawful bases are: performance of a contract where you have asked us to provide a service; legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, protecting our business and keeping proper records; legal obligation for tax, insurance and road transport record keeping; and consent where you have opted in to marketing, which you may withdraw at any time.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with subcontracted recovery operators where we need assistance to complete your job, with your insurer or accident management company where you have asked us to, with our own insurers and professional advisers, with our website hosting and email providers acting on our instructions, and with the police, highways authorities or other public bodies where the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead to a job are held for up to 12 months. Records of completed jobs are held for 6 years to meet accounting, insurance and liability requirements. Website analytics data is held for up to 26 months.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to be informed about how your data is used, to request a copy of the data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure in certain circumstances, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email info@1staid-recovery.co.uk. We will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
7. Cookies
This website uses a small number of cookies. Essential cookies are needed for the site to function and for form security, and cannot be switched off. Analytics cookies, where enabled, help us understand which pages are useful. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the site may not work correctly if you do.
Our contact page and our service area pages include maps embedded from Google Maps. When one of those maps loads, Google may set cookies and receive your IP address, and that processing is governed by Google's own privacy policy rather than ours. If you would rather not load them, blocking third-party cookies in your browser will prevent it; everything else on the page will continue to work normally.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, access controls and secure password storage. No transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take our obligations seriously.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with the date it was last revised.
10. Contact
Questions about this policy or about your data should be sent to info@1staid-recovery.co.uk, or posted to 1st Aid Recovery, Standard Wharf, 189 Manor Road, Erith, Kent, DA8 2AD.
