Who we are
1st Aid Recovery is a vehicle recovery, roadside assistance and repair business based at Standard Wharf on Manor Road in Erith. From there we cover more than twenty-five areas across London, Kent and Surrey around the clock — our home patch through Bexley and Dartford, east London around Ilford, central and north London from Shoreditch up to Hampstead, west London through Hammersmith and Wembley, and south west as far as Richmond and Banstead. For pre-booked transport work we travel nationwide.
Our sign says peace of mind is a part of our service, and that is not a slogan we picked because it sounded good. It is the whole point. Nobody calls a recovery firm on a good day. What people actually need, on top of a truck, is to stop worrying — to know somebody is coming, to know when, and to know what it will cost.
What we believe
An honest price, given up front
Our minimum callout is quoted individually covering the the work involved, then agreed up front after that. You get the total on the phone before we set off. It does not change when we arrive and find you stressed and out of options.
Turn up when we say
An arrival window is a promise, not a marketing figure. If traffic on the A2, the North Circular or the Crossing means we will be late, we ring you and say so. Being left at the roadside with no information is worse than being told a longer wait. And if you are far enough out that somebody closer would genuinely serve you better, we will tell you that too.
Treat the vehicle properly
Every vehicle is loaded and strapped correctly, every time. Low cars get low-angle ramps. Motorbikes get a front chock and soft loops, never a ratchet strap over the bodywork. Classics get treated like classics. It takes a few minutes longer and it is the difference between a car delivered and a car delivered damaged.
Answer the phone
There is no call centre and no automated menu. When you ring 07961 100260 at three in the morning, a person picks up.
Recovery, repairs and everything between
Most recovery firms drop your car at a garage and that is the end of their involvement. We carry out servicing, MOT work and accident repairs ourselves, which means we can take a vehicle from the roadside all the way through to handing it back repaired. One firm, one phone number, one conversation.
Our equipment
We run modern tilt-and-slide flatbed recovery trucks with winches, maintained on schedule and DVSA-compliant, capable of handling everything from a city car to a loaded Luton, a caravan or a bare classic chassis.
Fully insured
We carry full public liability and goods-in-transit cover, and our operators are licensed and trained. Certificates are available on request — and if any recovery firm hesitates when you ask for them, use somebody else.
